Celestial Rapture
When I painted Celestial Rapture, I wanted to freeze the exact second mortal flesh dissolves into divine fire. I envisioned a young god-like figure — powerful, glistening, every muscle carved by golden light — arching in pure ecstatic surrender. One arm reaches for the infinite while the other clutches billowing white drapery that barely contains it. The background is my love letter to antique celestial maps and astrolabes: swirling gold leaf, deep umber voids, fragments of forgotten star charts, and that single radiant compass rose pulsing like a heartbeat from the cosmos itself. I worked in the tradition of Caravaggio's dramatic chiaroscuro and Michelangelo's anatomical perfection, but pushed it into modern fantasy — hyper-real skin, liquid highlights, and an almost tangible sense of ascension. This piece isn't just a painting; it's an invocation.
