View Larger on Chockstone Photography Originally built in 1950's, Bluff Hut burnt down in 2007 and was reconstructed to provide a safe haven for car campers, bush walkers, horse riders and cross country skiing. It is the third highest mountain hut in Australia. In the winter months access by car is not possible, though you can get within a short hike of it with some luck, a four wheel drive with high clearence and snow chains for all four tyres. Alternatively, parking at The Bluff carpark and walking further is the saner 4WD winter option. This will also give you views across to Mt Buller. This image was captured an hour or so after a snow storm. Upon returning, my vehicle was almost invisible and getting out was no easy task.
