View Larger on Chockstone Photography Driving north-west out of Hawker as the sun sets there are many impressive views of the Flinders Ranges. I’d noted this one some years ago, but with each visit the missing factor had always been cloud. Any cloud, even a spec or two is hard to find at this location. On this trip I had one day left and even though I’d already watched the sun go down from this spot a few times before, and the sky was completely empty, I decided to give it one more roll of the dice before heading out. Incredibly, out of nowhere some puffy little white billows lazily wandered into my scene and positioned themselves right over it, forming a natural arch, that was painted red by the dying light. Now I admit this is not an earth shatteringly fantastic shot, but from my perspective, it represents an occurrence of personal rarity sufficient to consider it gallery worthy.
