View Larger on Chockstone Photography Trentham Falls is Victoria's highest single-drop waterfall. It resides a short distance from both Kyneton and the lovely little town of Daylesford, and is merely a hop, skip and a jump from Trentham township itself, which, while very small, has a certain old world charm popular among the Sunday drive set. The 32 metre falls, plunging over basalt cliffs, live in the Wombat State forest and are very accessible at least from the carpark to the overlook area. Approaching the base of the falls, especially during the winter months, can get a little slippery and you'll likely be drenched by spray. Facilitates include picnic tables, toilets and yes there is mobile coverage. Only an hour from home, our family has been popping over here for several generations, and enjoying a visit. On this particular trip I could not resist the urge to pull out the camera gear and invest the time into exploring some compositions. I tend to be photographically inspired by long distance travel, and need to remind myself from time to time, that some real gems are reasonably close to home under the right light and weather.
