Camera Canon EOS 5d DSLR Mk II with a Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye * This stereographic panorama provides a 360° view of the river Foyle, from Foyle Marina to Derry City Centre, with the dawn breaking over Ebrington Square and St Columb's Park. It was featured in the WorldWide Panorama Best of 2014 selection. It is best viewed as a full screen VR The Foyle Marina is on the left in front of Derry City Council offices. The cycle-track and footpath heads heads down to the bottom right corner towards Derry City centre. The trees silhouetted at the centre-right are in St Columb's Park. The Raw images were shot at 9:00 am on 30th December 2014, just as dawn was breaking over the River. Until the latter half of the twentieth century this was a thriving cargo port. The straight lines in the concrete are the remnants of tramlines that guided cranes along the quayside. Where the cars are parked was once the location of the Glasgow Shed and Liverpool Shed where cargo, including livestock, waited to be loaded onto ships. The last remnants of the cargo port moved down river twenty five, or more, years ago. In recent years the riverside has been developed with foot and cycle paths, the Foyle Marina, Derry City Council office building and apartment complexes. New restaurants and cafes have opened along the river. h2. *History of this Image on RedBubble This stereographic panorama provides a 360° view of the river Foyle, from Foyle Marina to Derry City Centre, with the dawn breaking over Ebrington Square and St Columb's Park. Method # This High Dynamic Range (HDR) panoramic image was created by combining 49 separate digital photographs covering every angle and with bracketed exposures (mid and +/- 1,2,3 stops). Hence the detail has been captured both in the brightest areas of the sky and the buildings in shadow. The source images were shot on a Canon EOS 5d DSLR Mk II with a Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye and stitched together using the free open-source program Hugin, which in turn invokes a program called Enfuse to blend the exposures and create the HDR effect.
