View Larger on Chockstone Photography Wilsons Promontory (or "The Prom" as it is known) resides on the southernmost point of mainland Australia. The park has a stunning natural beauty, a wealth of wildlife and many good, well-marked walks. Whisky Bay is easy to access, with only a short walk required from the carpark. It can become quite popular in the summer months, with families staying in nearby Tidal River campground. Its popularity is, however, well deserved with amazing coastal views from either end of the beach and islands visible out to sea. Having photographed it many times over the years, I was keen to try something different and decided to shoot exceedingly wide, taking in a field of view greater than 180 degrees. The resulting image contains a staggeringly large resolution and shows us more of the scene than we would normally see even with our peripheral vision. With the light fading and the evening becoming cold, our boy and I packed up our tripods and walked out along the sand. The waves rose to meet us, lapping at our footprints as we savoured those last moments of our trip together. What a wonderful experience to have shared.
