King Iya Nacuaa
Also called "Eight Deer Jaguar Claw", this is anIllustration of an eleventh century mixtec mesoamerican king, as depicted in the Codex Nuttal. A prodigous military commander, he united a mosaic of mixtec kingdoms into an empire, although his ambitions were cut short by his nephew and political rival "4 Wind". His empire would shortly collapse into several warring kingdoms once more until they were eventually conquered by the Aztec empire three centuries later. In this ilustration he has black and white (on his hands) body paint, and yellow, red and black facial paint.
