View Larger on Chockstone Photography Built back in 1911, Canoe Pool and it's associated Art Deco pavilion and Ocean Baths is an historic landmark of Newcastle. Back in the 1930's children would craft makeshift boats out of scrap bits of wood and iron and take to the shallow waters of this little pond. Now-a-days it is still a popular bathing complex and a bit of a tourist attraction.
