Sun Reflection
Abruptly, we all believed our worlds had been turned upside-down this year, inverted on its axis. We were told to be socially-distant, but in ways we were more connected than ever before. We were told we are all in this together, but then many suffered great loss – jobs, family members or friends passing unexpectedly.
It has been a year of profound contradiction. It is in this weird juxtaposition that I often found my thoughts as I walked along the shore of Lake Michigan.
The world was upside-down. I snapped a photo on my phone and flipped it.
Looking at the photo closely, the world began to appear not so upside-down. In fact, the world started to come into focus, and the beauty of the moment, breathtaking and awe-inspiring.
And so, 2020 became the inspiration for this year’s calendar. In the future, we will look back to 2020 with clear hindsight. It was 2020. The time was now. We were there. Fully present. Fully alive. Taking it one day at a time. One step at a time. One moment at a time.
