    Glass Bottom Reverie
Glass Blossom Reverie is a small, lively oil painting focused on a bouquet that bursts with color and texture. The flowers—bright yellow daisies with their dark centers, soft pink roses, and a bold pinkish-red bloom—feel almost tangible thanks to thick, confident brushstrokes that add weight and movement. The vase holding them is glass, rendered transparently but with enough layered paint to catch light and depth, anchoring the composition without stealing attention from the blooms themselves. The background leans into cooler shades of blue and green, but it isn’t static. Painted drips streak downward, as if the colors are gently melting or flowing, adding an unexpected sense of energy and fluidity. This contrast between the warm, vibrant flowers and the cool, shifting backdrop creates a balance that keeps the eye moving and engaged. The entire canvas is about a playful mix of texture and color—the flowers pop forward, almost humming with life, while the background breathes quietly behind them. In making this piece, I focused on the physicality of paint—how building up layers and textures can make something familiar feel fresh and immediate. There’s something about working thickly that invites a kind of joyful spontaneity, letting the brush be bold and the medium speak for itself. That balance between control and looseness shapes the feeling I wanted to capture: a moment of natural beauty that’s both vivid and a little dreamlike.
