Welcome to the Masterpiece Workshop resource space

Photographers, this is the space where you will add resource images.
for Solo Exhibition’s Masterpiece Workshop

When you see the following badge below your posted image, you know it has been accepted into the Catalog.
If you do NOT see the badge, but the work is still here, it is under consideration, but we may suggest another that
might be perfect for translation. Stand by.

If you see this below your work, you can pick up the linked badge code from this index page.
Workshop Badges see section for “workshop catalog badges”

PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDE
to help you facilitate a great “translation” experience

  1. Theme for work posted can be anything that you believe would
make an elegant, classic masterpiece, translated to another medium
  2. Posting up to 10 of your best works.
  3. An agreement between artist and photographer will be posted here
    1. Download and use it with a participating solo member artist
    2. Copyright of one’s own work will stay with each party of the agreement.
    3. Solo Exhibition, and its hosts, are not party to the agreement.
  4. The works will need to be posted large, here, with the Easy Button.
  5. Be aware that REALIST PAINTERS will request a higher resolution file than
the 72 dpi 800 px one available on RedBubble. That size is not sufficient to use
    for a realistic painting.
    1. Trade emails with your artists to send documents back and forth
    2. With digital artists, make sure you completely understand what
they will be doing with your file, and provide for that in the terms.
  6. You are not required to say “yes” to everyone; but you should say
“yes” to someone. At least, that’s what this is all about. :)
  7. We suggest limiting each work to 3 or less interpretations:
    1. Realists will interpret photographs literally. So you many want to limit, for both
your and the artist’s sake, the number of realistic translations of your work.
    2. Many artists are not realists and will, instead, take inspiration.
Inspired art can take many styles.
  8. YOU WILL BE IN CHARGE OF FOLLOWING:
    1. follow this topic
    2. check your email for requests
      1. if an artist does not get a response within 2 days, they are encouraged to move on
    3. you are required to “edit” the comment containing your resource image each time you agree with someone to translate it.
      1. there is a small edit link beside every comment that you make in a forum
    4. below the image, type the name and link to the artist, and the style of art: digital, or traditional
      1. example: F.A. Moore will create a digital translation

Terms are important, so that everyone knows where they stand.

By participating in the workshop you are agreeing to the Terms, below listed, for Catalog Entries.

TERMS FOR CATALOG ENTRIES.

Catalog Entries are open to Solo members. Catalog entries may or may not be selected for final inclusion, and may be deleted.

You agree to allow Solo Exhibition and its hosts and supporters to promote your translated work, in association with this workshop, both on RedBubble and solo-exhibition.com.

You agree to respond within 48 hours or sooner to all queries from Solo Workshop participants, who request to translate your work.

You agree to update your catalog post with the name of any and all translators, as soon as the contract is set.
Please make it take the following simple form, just below the catalog image:
F.A. Moore to translate in traditional oil
Elizabeth Bravo to translate in digital composite
etc.

You agree that the number of translations of your work may be limited at the sole determination of the workshop hosts. If you get 8 requests for translation, for example, you should consult with a host. We have found that capping translations to three per work protects all artists involved from overuse of the theme.

You understand and agree that even though composited photographs may be accepted, that all parts of the work must be your own, in order to properly pass copyright of the artist’s derived works back to them, per the agreement you will sign with the artist.

You agree to keep up with updates during the workshop, and to work with your translator as they require, providing them with higher resolution images if they request such. (Realists painters require higher resolution files, typicallyat least 2-5 MB, which is still quite small, but usually sufficient).

You agree to enter into a “written agreement” with your translator, so as to protect your copyright for the original cataloged work, and to protect their copyright for their own original translation. The agreement template will be posted here.

You understand and agree that Solo is not a party to your agreement.

You agree that there will be no fee charged to the workshop translator of your work.

You agree to hold Solo Exhibition harmless and indemnify Solo hosts for any mishaps, misunderstandings, or misappropriations that result from this workshop or the appearance of your work in the catalog, exhibition, workshop, journals, or advertising space.

If the terms above sound good to you, or you have participated in Solo’s workshops as a resource provider before,
then you know what to do now. Use this EASY BUTTON LINK

  1. Paste your image description page url into the top field of the tool
  2. Scroll down to “Displays”. Check “Feature – large”.
  3. Press the small, red “easy button”, to submit.
  4. Look at the base of the page for the CODE in the textbox. COPY it.
  5. Come back here and PASTE the code into a new comment. And Save Reply.

*Terms for Translators will be in the “Masterpiece Workshop space”

Translators will work at the following link
which is connected through RedBubble’s navigation links at the top of the page.

DOWNLOAD THE AGREEMENT

Agreement Download (between Originating Photographers and Artists)

THE AGREEMENTS ARE DIFFERENT FOR EACH WORKSHOP. PLEASE USE THE ONE APPROPRIATE FOR THE WORKSHOP.

Because of the way most browsers delete the white space, when copying text, like below; it may work better for you if you either click and copy from the linked file, above, or Control-click the link, and “Download File” to your own computer’s download directory. It’s plain text, not an html file. So it cannot hurt your computer in any way.

Remember to open it in some neutral text editor, like Notepad, or “TextEdit” (which is on all Macs). But not Word or WordPad, because those two apps often add funky characters in place of some plain text.

Artists will post the agreement that you both digitally sign (or fax to each other), in the WORKSHOP space, in their “studio”, not here in the catalog space.

Please remember to edit the comment for your work and note who the translator will be. 1 Translation allowed per major genre (digital art, traditional art, sculpture, and short movie), for the Masterpiece Workshop. (Other workshops can have more translations.)

You may alternatively screen copy the following. (But the download link above is a better way to copy.)
