The Best in Science Fiction ~ Sci Fi/Fantasy

Postcards from the Future

The Challenge

~ Title Says it All ~

(Or almost all!) Enter your Most Amazing, Innovative Glimpse into the Future!

And by that, I don’t mean “next week” or even 20 years from now. This is sci fi! So look faaaar ahead! 500 years ~ 5000 years ~ 5 million, maybe. Stretch your imagination to the ultimate!

Anything could happen. The Earth could fall into a wormhole or move into an alternate dimension. There could be a State Change in the Universe, changing all the laws of physics. Who knows, the Earth may not exist by then and people could be living in another system in Andromeda where no one even knows they came from Earth a million years before.

No Fan Art, please! For this challenge, all work should be original. YOUR ideas – YOUR art – YOUR locations, characters, etc. (You may use stock in the creation of your image, but if so please give credit where it’s due, in your description). Images derived from other sources (Star Trek, Dr. Who, etc) will NOT qualify for this one, so No Tardises, No Daleks, No Enterprise, etc.! Other time machines, other robots, other space-ships ~ fine ~ but this time, and for this challenge, make them your own.

Any medium okay (drawings, paintings, Bryce, Photoshop, etc). Style and approach are up to you. Remember – this is Science Fiction! You don’t have to believe it, just think it up! Whether Good, Bad, or Ugly… the book isn’t written yet. The future could be anything. Do make it sci-fi, though, in keeping with the focus of the group. Here’s your chance to Wow us with the Wild and the Wonderful! Peer into the distant depths of time and send us postcards from your trip. Show us what could lie ahead!

The usual group requirements apply, so if in doubt check our group home page for those.

No past 1st Place Winners in the group (Top 10’s are fine, as are images which may have won in other groups).

Also, USE THE IMAGE-ONLY DEFAULT! Your work can be AVAILABLE as all and any products, but we should see a PICTURE when we open up your work, not a pillow, i-phone case or pair of leggings! In the past I have accepted images which break this rule but beginning with this challenge, ALL SUCH WORK WILL BE REJECTED. Images as products are difficult to see, they create a lot of extra steps for me and the default is changed very easily. Just select IMAGE ONLY at the bottom of your edit-page, and save. Don’t worry ~ the products will still be as visible as ever, but the image in and of itself will be the Star Performer of your page!

The winning image will become our avatar if it’s suitable: so keep in mind that “verticals” don’t work for avatars. The top and bottom get cut off . If you want to see your image as our avatar, keep your format horizontal (rectangular, not square).

Judging / Voting Criteria

Vote for more than one. Pick the Most Amazing, based on quality of artwork, imagination, originality and most of all The Future Factor!

If you enter, PLEASE VOTE!

As always, No Soliciting for Votes. Any member caught padding the ballot box either via Bubblemail, Facebook or any other venue, will have their work removed. Let the entries win on merit, not your popularity!

Rewards & Prizes

Winner gets a Winners’ Banner, bragging rights, a feature on our Group Home Page. 1st Place Ties are recognized, so all 1st Place Winners win. In the event of a tie the second winning entry will become our avatar the following month. In addition, winners are inducted to our Hall of Fame (Featured Artists!)

(Winning entires will be used as avatars but only if they work! If the wwork is vertical or square, we can’t use it for an avatar.)

Runners up (Top 10) also get a banner and a mention in our Forum provided we get a minimum of 20 entries and all Top 10 have votes.

Additional Information

Please be sure your entry’s in the group by voting time!

All entries not compliant with our challenge theme, challenge rules or group requirements, will be removed, It’s only fair to everybody else!

Older work’s ok ~ new work is better yet! So consult your crystal ball (or jump aboard your time machine) and show us what you see! Hope you’ll have some fun with this!
