The Challenge

Our largest land mammal, highly intelligent with a very tight social order, the herd is made up of a matriarch which is usually the eldest living female in the herd. The herd will also be made up of mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts and they all contribute to the herd. The males on the other hand tend to live solitary lives leaving the group once they reach maturity.

Why are they endangered well hunting, poaching, habitat loss and even, some national parks (which I found shocking but it makes sense) the smaller national parks may hinder the elephants survival rather than sustain it. As you all know elephants have a very wide roaming area travelling between 4-11 kilometres per day. They also have winter and summer feeding areas and breeding areas, so if these are cut off by fencing the elephant will either trample the fencing or in some circumstances can even die.

As both the African (including subspecies) and Asian elephants are on the endangered list, you may add images of either.
