The Challenge

~ Climate Change and Other Ecological Disasters ~

This is a challenge for exploring the potential and almost certainly disastrous results of methods, trends, policies and ecological realties we see occuring here and now on Earth.

If you REALLY think things are on a bright and brilliant path and the future will be bright and brilliant too… ? okay. I might argue but not here; this is not the place for politics. More than likely though, like all of us, you sense Big Trouble up ahead whether due to global warming, over-population, fracking, damage to our water-ways and oceans, disappearing species, disappering eco-systems, weather changes, genetic engineering and the like.

This is the chance to express your concerns about the Earth’s environment in your artwork and your writing! Specifically, mankind’s damage to the planet, whether it’s related to the climate, the oceans, the atmosphere, the rain forests or the Arctic ice, etc.

Sure, an asteroid could smash us all to smithereens/ Yellowstone could blow/ a rogue planet could appear out of nowhere/ aliens could blast us into space-dust/ ~ all Dire Possibilities! But none of the above are topics for this challenge! Your entry should relate to the GLOBAL ECOLOGY and the health (or lack thereof) of Humankind and Mother Earth herself.

Any medium invited (drawing, paintings, Bryce, Photoshop, etc) and style and approach are up to you. Although the topic isn’t humorous (!), humor CAN be appropriate, especially if it makes us see a point we may have missed or overlooked. But whether serious or comic, whether illustrative or surreal, please be sure your entries stay ON THEME! And use the Image Only Default when you upload, please! Your art can be available as any product, but I need to see an illustration when I open it, not a mug or tote, not an i-phone cove, not a pair of leggings!

All entries must be artwork (ie, not slogans, not just text): your art shouldn’t “tell” us what you see, but SHOW us. You can add all the text you want to under your Description. The more the merrier, especially if you’ve thought of, or discovered something dire most of us have yet to know about.

As always here, "No Fan Art!* It is ok to make a REFERENCE to a documentary or TV show, or to something on the internet~ even sci fi material like Trek or Dr. Who ~ but ONLY as a reference, or to illustrate a point. The Tardis, the Enterprise, etc., should never be the FOCUS of your artwork in this group / those belong in Sci Fi.

Older work is fine/ new is better yet! And please ~ no prior challenge 1st Place winners from the group. Top 10’s are fine, as are images which may have won a challenge in another group.

Remember, your descriptions are important too. The more we’re aware of what is going on, the more chance we have to solve whatever problems lie ahead; so here’s you chance to share what you think, and even offer possible solutions.

To qualify, your entries must comply with ALL our group requirments and challenge theme. Non-qualifying work will be removed. It’s only fair to everybody else who’s playing by the rules!

Judging / Voting Criteria

Vote for more than one. Pick the ones that “speak” to you about this topic.

As always, NO Soliciting of Votes! Any member caught padding the ballot box either via Bubblemail, Facebook, or multiple accounts, will have their work removed.

Voting is important! If you enter, please do VOTE!
