The Challenge

~ Earth Report/ 2724 ~

Here’s the Scenario: you’ve been abducted by aliens! (Whether you believe in them today or not, they arrived and off you went). They’re time-traveling fellows, and they’ve taken you ahead some 700 years to see what state the Earth is in, after which they say they’re going to take you back in order to alert the world at large about the future which awaits unless some major changes happen, here and now.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: show us what you’d think you’d see!

This is a challenge for exploring potential and possibly disastrous results of methods, trends, policies and ecological realties we see occuring here and now. If you really think things are headed in a bright and brilliant manner and the future will be bright and brilliant too… okay. More than likely though, you sense some trouble up ahead, whether due to fracking, GMO’s, climate change, over-population, damage to our seas and water over-all, the development of artificially intelligent machines/drones/robots, experiments in bioscience which could well create new viruses and plagues no one can stem once released, or even (who knows!) experiments in other fields which could open up black holes. skew time and space, or fry our atmosphere, exterminating every plant, animal and every other living thing.. including us. Not a happy list! But experts in many fields have expressed concerns about such matters so it’s not “Science Fiction” to consider such events or possibilities.

Any medium invited (drawing, paintings, Bryce, Photoshop, etc) and style and approach are up to you. Please be sure your entries stay on theme and use the Image Only Default, please! Your art can be available as any product, but be sure we see an illustration when we open it, not a mug or pair of leggings!

All entries must be illustrative (ie, not slogans, not text): you’re taking back a photograph or two, or possibly a video ~ not a shirt! Your art shouldn’t “tell” us what you see, but show us. You can add all the text you want to ~ under your Description. The more the merrier, in fact. Especially if you’ve thought of, or discovered something dire most of us have yet to know about.

To qualify, your entries must comply with all our group requirments and rules. And as always here, "No Fan Art!*

Older work is fine/ new is better yet! And please ~ no prior challenge winners from the group. Top 10’s are fine, as are images which may have won a challenge in another group.

Remember, your descriptions are important too. It’s generally conceded that the more we’re aware of what is going on, the more chance we have to solve whatever problems lie ahead; so here’s you chance to share what you think, and even offer possible solutions.

Judging / Voting Criteria

Vote for more than one. Pick the ones that “speak” to you about this topic, based on artistic merit and also, the warnings they impart whether blatant or implied.

As always, No Soliciting of Votes! Any member caught padding the ballot box either via Bubblemail Facebook, or multiple accounts, will have their work removed.

Voting is important! If you enter, please do VOTE!

Rewards & Prizes

In addition to the recognition and the warm-fuzzies should you win, Winner gets a Winner’s Banner, spotlight-feature on our Group Home Page and a Special Presentation in our Forum. He or she will also be a Featured Artist in our Hall of Fame, and the winning image will become our avatar, if horizontal. If vertical, we’ll use it for a banner (verticals don’t work so well for avatars).

1st place Ties will be recognized, so if we have a tie all the winners will be recognized in turn.

If we have more than 20 entries, runners up (Top 10) also get a Banner and a mention in the Forum. If we have less than 20 entries, we will recognize the Top 5 provided each entry gets some some votes.

Additional Information

Please be sure your entry is accepted in the group! You can put in the challenge first, but add it to the group by voting time.

Our generation has inherited an incredibly beautiful world from our parents and they from their parents. It is in our hands whether our children and their children inherit the same world.
