The White Horse Hotel was one of my favorite watering holes and Wally’s across the road on the right, used to sell the greatest ‘Granitas’ a lemon ice treat. Both places helped quenched many a thirst in Innisfail, my home town.
“oh yeah, when I served my apprentiship as a painter in the local council I actually painted the Zebra Crossing in this scene, so I got to paint it twice, this time in oil paint on canvas!”

Absolutely wonderful Cary. I am not at all surprised that the original sold.
Davo
thanks Davo…but I have to come clean! I actually donated this painting to the Local R.S.L ( the Navy group wthin that) to be raffled off to help raise funds for a Memorial at the local cemetery. Actually the Memorial close to my Dad’s (Hugh R.I.P) grave, Dad served in WWII. I always try and support things like that if I can. :-)
Such practice painting that crossing has led to perfection Cary….Nice work!
Thanks Chris, yes an unusual double painting event! not all artists get the chance. :)
Great painting… like the old lady..not on crossing:)
thanks Tube…..yes interesting I placed her there as a compositional interest…based on a lady who always used to have a black umbrella rain hail or shine.!
Outstanding!

Congratulations! Your painting has been featured in ‘Australian Country Towns’
You have captured the vibrancy and excitement of country life and it’s exactly the sort of work that we feel should be displayed in the featured section of a group on Aussie country towns.
Please keep up the great work and we hope you continue to add more of your excellent paintings to this group.
This painting is now eligible to be entered in our November ‘Featured Photo Challenge’ in the ‘Australian Country Towns’ group. Good luck!
Thanks for that, glad you like it and I will enter more works! Ü
Great to see another oil painting Cary. It is a hobby of mine. I like the idea of the originals selling more & more!!! Congratulations on the feature and on your work. Has a great ‘country’ feel about it.
