Theresa Comstock

Trained in Houston in the processes of the old masters (by the late Master Painter, Efim Frumin), layers of work begin with a charcoal sketch, an under-painting with milk-based paint, gelatin, followed by oil paints. The layers combine, creating stories, flowers and creatures with contrast, humor and colorful questions. Paintings reflect experiences with religious, political and social issues (and people's reactions to them) in recent years living in Texas and California.
