Some cards never change…. Watercolour & ink on A3 185gsm watercolour paper.
8”x10” scratchboard – Part of my “Proof of Faith” exhibit at Art Whino, National Harbor, MD. Please see www.artwhino.com for purchase. This piece is another experiment with the concept of totem poles. I am intrigued by the stacking of ideas into a vertical story, aesthetically and conceptually. Maybe some more totems are on their way?

Dr. Pain working in his lab
You thought you’d be helpful and lend a hand to this poor creature, tending its wounds and all, and it repays you by chasing you down the stairs and, well, that’s where it’s at. Started as a pen and ink, and then painted it in painter.
Inspired By The Controversial Death Of The Red Baron: “The Dead Baron” was inspired by the death of the German Pilot Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen / (2 May 1892 – 21 April 1918). Richthofen, better known as The Red Baron, was the greatest flying ace of World War I, and arguably the world’s most famous pilot, earning his reputation by claiming the lives of 120 allied flyers. Richthofen was killed just after 11 a.m. on 21 April 1918 while flying over Morlancourt Ridge, near the Somme River, France. He was hit by a single .303 bullet that passed clear through his chest cavity. After sustaining his injury, Richthofen managed to make a hasty but controlled landing in a field on a hill near the Bray-Corbie Road, just north of the village of Vaux-sur-Somme. Eye witness, Sgt Ted Smout of the Australian Medical Corps, reported that when he and other Australian soldiers reached the aircraft, Richthofen was still alive but died moments later, muttering his last word “kaputt” (“finished”). There has been much controversy as to who shot the single bullet that ended the Barons life, some of the most common theories suggest he was: • Mortally wounded in air combat by 209th / squadron’s Captain Roy Brown / • Shot down by Australian anti-aircraft Battery Operator / A. G. Franklyn / • Hit by an unknown gunner from the 51st Battalion / • Fatally wounded during a skirmish with Australian RE8 / observation planes led by Major D. V. J. Blake / • Bought down by R. Buie, and W. J. Evans from the / Australian 53rd Battery, 14th Field Artillery Brigade / • Machine gunned down by Sergeant C. B. Popkin from / the Australian 24th Machine Gun Company The question is still debated to this day – who killed the Red Baron? [Leading Soundtrack During Creation: Life In Your Way – Waking Giants]

Today’s economic turmoil and moral downslide has inspired this piece. It is a mixture of photo, illustration, and digital painting.
To quote Captain Spaulding from House of 1,000 Corpses: “You like blood? Violence? Freaks of nature?” Well, then come on down to Monsters Ink and show us what lurks inside the dark corners of your imagination! This group will focus primarily on horror flicks, but is also open to pretty much anything that’s just downright scary, creepy or otherwise disturbing. Just remember that the key word here is horror.
PLEASE READ THE RULES BELOW, AS THE GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS HAVE CHANGED.
Any medium is acceptable provided it’s truly horror related. Photos are discouraged because they typically don’t convey any real sense of horror; however, if you’ve set up a fantastic shoot and you think it’s really scary, feel free to submit it.
All submissions are subject to our approval.
I’m hoping to really push some boundaries here, so let’s see what you’ve got!
