Jump by Steve Jones
Originally known as Weimar Pointers, the breed was developed and perfected for German royalty in the Weimar Republic of Germany in the early 19th century. They were bred to be courageous hunters with exceptional speed and tracking ability. The nobles of Weimer used them to hunt wild boar, bear, deer and other big game. Ownership of the alluring gray dogs was carefully guarded and breeding was strictly controlled by the nobles and later by The Weimaraner Club of Germany.

Where Are Those Cows?? by Martin Hampson
This is a picture of my dear Border Collie “Shiney”. She is sadly no longer with us after losing a battle with liver cancer. As you can see she was very curious and in this photo is seen looking down from the balcony to the cows in the paddock below.

Camp Draft by Bekster
Camp draft…where a rider and his horse have to segregate 1 cow from 20 in camp. Once they have chosen their cow they give the call to open the gates and out on the field they have to manouveur this cow around 2 posts in a figure eight and then through the middle of 2 posts at the bottom of the field. Not an easy task. I only saw 4 riders successfully achieve this out of 100’s of competitors.

Horse-drawn carriage, Old Sac by Lenny La Rue, IPA
The historically preserved (or reconstructed where it was just too unsafe to fix) Old Sacramento is one of the biggest tourist [traps] draws in town. Some of the streets are still cobblestone and a royal pain to drive, walk, or load musical equipment from a vehicle on without being either bounced into pieces or risking destruction from a fall. In other words, cute but impractical. Sorta like spending a pile of cash to be seen in a carriage wandering thru the perpetually busy streets. At least there have been a load of modern day improvements: an “apple sack” for those times when you have to “do it on the road”; a functional brake pedal that I’m sure really makes a horse thrilled when applied; a bucket and shovel (I don’t know…Overflow???); rubber on the wheels, and; brake lights. What I want them to figure out is how to put a huge plastic bag for other horsie functions in front of the “apple sack”... PS I really tried to get all of the other 21st century trappings out of this picture but the cars were everywhere and that mammoth ugly building in the background just wasn’t going anywhere.

The advice I listened to back then destroyed all my dreams, not only for this horse but to fulfill my life. I was eighteen; I could have ridden him home; I wasn’t working I had my camping gear with me we could have trekked home easily and then I would have had the incentive to get work to pay for him to be agisted where I rode every weekend; to have bought my farm. But to my city loving family they would have thought me crazy. So I didn’t and I stayed in the city doing city things my family approved of and went crazy anyway! And here I am spending hours on a beautiful day like today writing my dreams on a computer instead of having lived them. You tell me if that’s sane or not.
