But for those of us not in the UK, there’s an extract to download. Also an extract from Lauren Henderson’s Kiss Me, Kill Me the first in a YA series.

What is Tart Noir?
“Tart. It’s a potent four-letter word. Sweet, sour, sharp, sexy, bad, with a touch of cheesecake. It seemed to sum up the detectives in our segment of the crime fiction genre, the independent-minded female sleuths who are tough enough to take on thugs and corrupt cops, tender enough to be moved by tough, tender men (or women, as the case may be). These are neofeminist women, half Philip Marlowe, half femme-fatale, who make their own rules, who think it’s entirely possible to save the world while wearing a drop-dead dress and four-inch heels.”

Hey guys,

I went to the Kentish Town reading which was part of LGBT History month. It was really really brilliant. She is so funny and down to earth – the new novel seems to be corker!

If anyone is around for other readings I highly recommend them :)

Jealous!

Kerry, do you go to many readings/writing events? I always seem to find a reason not to go so this year… I’m going to something (but not the Writers Festival; too literary).

Hey sorry I’m so late responding – forgot where the thread was! Yeah I try to go to a fair few I saw Joshua Ferris, Joe Dunthorne, the lovely Stella and Xiaolu Guo. Tonight I’m off to see Marion Molteno….I’m lucky that most readings are free in London and it is always nice to mix with other book loving bods :)

especially if there’s drinks and nibblies!

Found a crime festival in Melbourne that looks good enough to tempt me.

well, if you find anything that includes Mike Ripley – Do Not Tell Me because I’d sulk for at least three days.
