All Aboard

Captured digitally using a Sony Alpha 100 at the Southern Cross Station in Melbourne.. This image was the winner of the “best alternative medium” at the ” Artbeat 2006 – Hung Art Competition and Exhibition ” August 2006. Also the winner of “Peoples Choice Award” at The Digital/Hardcopy exhibition at The Gasworks Gallery in Albert Park October 2006.

This image will be on display and for sale at the Strathcona Art show 7th – 9th September 2007 at Tay Creggan in Hawthorn.
The image will be presented framed, matted & signed. All my signed work comes limited in Edition.

This and another three images are to be featured in an exhibiton themed “4 World Photographers” where four photographers have been chosen to exhibit four of their best works. The exhibition is being held at the GaleriaZero in Barcelona Spain from 21st September to 18th October 2007. The four images I have chosen to exhibit are 1 2 3 4

Hello Robyn, the shutter was opened for 30 seconds and i had tweaked th EV down a little so that the lights wouldn’t burn in too much.
I’ll paste a little true story here about capturing this image at Southern Cross Station you might get a giggle out of it…
I was roaming around the station for about half an hour with my tripod and camera before someone approached me. It was a nice security guard who enquired as to my doings. Now, picture this, I too am a security guard, i stand at 193cms and weigh just on 140kg!! This poor fellow moved away very quickly even though i was polite and told him i was just about to get going… I was right in the middle of the exposure for the image titled “All Aboard” when i was flanked by FOUR non caucasion (and rather small!) security guards!! What a compliment…FOUR! I quickly joked with them that the shot need just ten seconds to be done and they waited patiently! Phew! So yes you are right they don’t like people with cameras! Even big people with cameras ;p !!!! It is such a photogenic place though!

Nice treatment indeed! May I ask what software you used to HDR it up (or did you hand tone it), and whether it was a single or multiple exposures?

G’day Roger! Thanks for stopping by!
Single exposure, 30 seconds on the shutter.
A tad of HDR as well as slight color enhancements by hand (or more exactly by mouse!) and I use Corel Photo Paint V9 as my only software.
