Group Rules:
Please Read Carefully!
This group is very specific about the types of wildlife and nature images it will display. We are not group for any and every nature image. Not all images submitted to the group will be accepted.
Photographs, Clothing and Written Works are accepted according to the guidelines below:
ALL photography submissions must be of subjects photographed in wilderness locations (this does not include the neighborhood park or pond) in their natural environment and must include the specific location the photograph was taken. (i.e.: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Titusville, Florida.)
The following elements are NOT accepted in any image:
- Macros or Extreme Close-ups. Any image that contains an animal must include the presence of the animal’s habitat/environment.
- Man-made objects or structures visible in images. Even if the man-made structure is inside a wilderness area, it should not be included in the photograph.
- Text on images with the exception of clothing.
- Borders on images, as per RB guidelines.
- Heavy digital manipulation.
- Animals in zoos, enclosures, farms or domestic environments.
The following subjects have special requirements for acceptance:
- Landscapes – To be accepted, photographs of landscapes must be of wilderness environments and must fit at least one of the following attributes:
1. Have a special focus on the flora/fauna contained within the landscape, such as giraffes grazing the savannas or a forest floor covered in wildflowers. Example here
2. Portray a feature of special significance such as a volcano, glacier, sand dunes, etc. Example here and here
3. Include weather phenomenon such as sandstorms, lightning strikes, blizzards. Example here - Flowers & Fungi – To be accepted, images of flowers/fungi must be wild and include the presence of their natural environment in the image. See here and here for examples.
Additional Criteria
- Images of high quality are well regarded and group hosts retain the right to reject images based upon the above guidelines as well as individual photographic components and quality.
- Should your image be rejected, please re-read the group guidelines to ensure your image meets the criteria before re-submitting the image for consideration.
- Written works must pertain specifically to wilderness and/or wildlife.
- Each member may upload a maximum of three images per day.
- Images may be removed from the gallery at any time by moderator’s discretion.
While not required, artists are encouraged to provide detailed descriptions along with their images. We feel it can add interest and be a wonderful addition to an image, especially if the viewer is not familiar with the location and/or species. We will periodically feature such images on our group homepage that we find to have both exceptional quality and an exceptional description of the subject.
Our goal is to have a gallery filled with images that show the wilderness in the most natural way possible, with a focus on earth’s special features and wildlife portrayed in their natural environment.
We hope you’ll join us in creating a fascinating gallery full of our earth’s wild places and inhabitants!
