With another 2 hour trip which turned into an 8 hour road trip/nightmare to Pontneddfechan, Wales, I only managed to get a couple of shots of one waterfall before I called it a day. How is it possible to get lost with two GPS’s??? I can managed it no problem. Arrgghh. / Next time, it will be a trip of calm, tranquility and total organisation, if you believe that, I’ll tell you another. / I hope you like it. Holly River State Park near Flatwoods, WV, in Webster County, protects 8,101 of remote mountain forest and is the second largest state park in West Virginia. Holly River is especially popular with campers and hikers visiting the park’s waterfalls and high ridges. Holly River is the second largest park in the West Virginia park system with a total of 8,101 acres. Nestled in a narrow valley, the park is surrounded by heavily forested mountains some reaching heights of over 2,800 feet. Hiking on the many trails the park offers is another way to get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the region. Trails to two waterfalls, Tecumseh and Tenskwatawa, named for two legendary Indian chiefs of the area, are quite popular. Or perhaps you might prefer the hike to Potato Knob with its commanding view at 2,480 feet. At the bottom you won’t want to miss the famous “Shupe’s Chute” waterfall. Natural Arch in Springbrook National Park, Queensland is a most unusual geological feature created over millions of years by water tumbling through the roof of a basalt cave. Natural Bridge is home to an amazing colony of glow-worms, whose lights can be seen only after sunset. Lookouts and lush rainforest also grace this World Heritage-listed haven, making it one of the most popular parks in Australia. Take the short circuit walk to the natural arch over Cave Creek, and view the unique waterfall and cave. Enjoy a picnic and relax in cool rainforest. Join a nocturnal tour to see delicate glow-worms. / On summer nights, see luminous fungi and fireflies. During the day, hear the calls of paradise riflebirds, green catbirds and wompoo fruit-doves.

Popped over to Thomason Foss this afternoon hoping to find a different angle. I’d taken a few shots when this young couple came and sat down besides the waterfall to have their lunch. I couldn’t resist the shot, the red jacket added colour to the photo.. I talked to the pleasant couple for a little while and watched the salmon trying to fight their way upstream.. / I hope the title doesn’t cause them embarassment.. I just thought it suited the shot :-) I tried several compositions with them in shot… they didn’t know, which meant it was keep your fingers crossed time that they didn’t move too much on the long exposure shot. I did tell them that I had taken their photo.. Thomason Foss is near Goathland in the North York Moors National Park. The waterfall featured in a film called “Possession”, where someone was seen diving into the pool and swam into a cave under the waterfall ( there is no cave under the waterfall to my knowledge ).
