Recent Work

  • Taming the Minator by oneillstudios

A depiction of trying to keep overwhelming forces under control. Based on a statue I photographed in Zurich last week. I was there trying to organise paperwork, and realised we had been misled and things delayed by a month.

  • Ascension of the Wildstrubel by celestin

Country skying towards the Wildstrubel (3243) in the Bernese Alps.

  • Life Up High by georgiegirl

The picturesque township of Leukerhad is nestled inbetween these mountains that stand more than 3500m high. Behind me, all the way back down at the base of the mountain is the town of Kandersteg… at least we had footpaths to follow!!

  • Twilight on the Bodensee by oneillstudios

Twilight over the Bodensee, or Lake Constance, which I will be leaving soon, forever. The Sun sets, and the promises have not been realized.

  • Been a bit distracted and very busy of late, which will get worse. I am moving back to Scotland, from Switzerland. Just handed in my notice at work and will be looking for a house and so on, as well as tying up business here. So, don’t take it as rudeness if I can’t check out your work properly. I will still try now and again. Might even try to post a couple of things. Thanks everyone for your support. Rob

  • Julius Boneparte (Napoleon Caesar) by oneillstudios

Napoleon cast in a statue as Julius Caesar outside the Arenenberg Chateau in Switzerland. Bit sad really. But this megalomaniac based himself on Julius. Yes, rather sad really, especially as Julius tried to crush Gaul/France where Napoleon came from. Interestingly, his nephew, Napoleon the III (who also lived here) erected a statue to Vercingetorix, Julius Cesar’s enemy (hence the pun in the Asterix the Gaul cartoons). Vercingetorix was imprisoned by Julius for five years and then strangled in front of the crowd when Julius needed a publicity boost. Roman Civilization??? I think not! Give me Vercingetorix and his Gauls any day! Napoleon the III

  • Switzerland, Ilanz by Galyna Schmid

The first city on the Rhine.

  • Fountain by oneillstudios

A rather ornate fountain at Stein am Rhein, Switzerland. Stein has a very nice and picturesque little centre. Very quaint, but attractive. Flooded with tourists at this time of year, taking photographs. Not an easy thing to do, as the streets were very narrow—a lot to photograph, but almost impossible to take a descent shot without the use of an extreme wide angle lens. I didn’t have one. But I tried my best.
