Twisted Tournoi 03 To celebrate and promote the launch of my publishing concern, Gibboncore, Twisted Tales is running an exciting new competition, to run alongside the weekly Star Twister Competition, called Twisted Tournoi. Twisted Tournoi will be a monthly competition for gritty short stories of between 500 and 1500 words and will run throughout 2009. Each competition will have a definite start date and closing date, a link to your story must be posted in the relevant competition thread, the story must be tagged with the relevant competition tag (twistedtournoi01 etc), and you need to give constructive feedback on the other entrants stories. The 3rd competition will run from Monday the 1st of June until Midnight GMT on Tuesday the 30th of June. At the end of each month I will choose a winner from all of the entrants. Each monthly winner then gets the chance to submit a story of 3,500 and 4,000 words in length: Gibboncore will publish up to ten of the submissions I like the most in an anthology of short stories, sometime, in 2010. As I’m running Gibboncore as a business, and will be paying all those whose work I publish royalties, I will only include stories that I personally like; so winning the monthly competition is no guarantee of someone being included in the final publication. If I am unable to find ten suitable stories from the winners I will choose other authors to make up any shortfall. Gibboncore’s release schedule is dependant on our revenue stream. You can help us with that by buying one of our existing titles and encouraging your friends, family, and colleagues to do the same! Gibboncore’s first publication is a collection of my own short stories, Blunt Wound Trauma, which will be available from Amazon and all good bookshops from the 9th of February for £7.99. (Blunt Wound Trauma: Micky McGuinness. Gibboncore. ISBN 978 1 907015 00 7) Cheers Micky McGuinness Post links to your entry here and tag it twistedtournoi03 |

I need a prompt…. I need a prompt….. hmmmm. I have been working on something actually, it’s called ‘The Missing Macbeth’ – the bit of Macbeth that got accidentally eaten by Shakespeare’s poodle (fatso) when his (William’s) porridge splashed over onto the manuscript causing him (fatso) to jump onto the chair (while William went to get a cloth) and lick of all the porridge and subsequently all the ink from the soiled pages. Let me see if I can get it together – if might be possible, since he (neither William OR fatso) actually chewed the pages. |

I haven’t even had a chance to count the words and at 1:32 in the morning, I’m in enough trouble as it is. So if it’s too short or too long, then please discount it. However, |

So sorry I had nothing for you this time around Micky. I had a bit of writers block on the piece I was preparing!! Hopefully it will clear up for number 4 :) |
