Story Competition: Like We Did Last Summer

Lehane Lehane 104 posts

The first Twisted Tales competition is under way!

We are looking for twisted stories of between 150 and 1500 words which include the phrase “like we did last summer” somewhere in the story. The stories can be in any genre but, as with the group ethos, have a sting/twist in the tail. The closing date is now extended to 30 April 2008 and the winning entry, as awarded by an independent judge (to be announced), will receive a £25 Amazon gift voucher.

The terms and conditions for entries are as follows:

1. Only one entry per person.
2. All stories must be between 150 and 1500 words long.
3. All stories must have a title (not included in the word count).
4. The stories must include the phrase ‘like we did last summer’ in the story.
5. Any genre is allowed but there must be a twist in the story.
6. Please tag your story “TTC1” – without this the story will not be considered for this competition
7. Please provide a link to your story in this thread – without doing so the story will not be considered for this competition
8. All stories/links will only be accepted up to 23:59 GMT on 30 April.
9. The winner will be notified by 7 May.
10. The judge’s decision is final.

Most importantly – have fun and make sure it’s twisted!

I cut it down to make the guideline! that was tough, but a really good exercise, I advise everyone to try and cut down one of their pieces.(1700 to 1500) (2000-1600) etc..

yoink

Good Luck To everyone I can’t wait to jump into these stories.

Gordon and Ryan – thanks guys! The competition is well and truly under way! (And thanks Ryan for cutting the word count down! Always a useful exercise for when submitting to paying markets!)

Haha, I had to pull the other story because there is no way I could add “Like we did last summer to it” SO I wrote this, instead!
That ok?

[I have like we did last summer now, thanks for the heads up DBA]

Who’s going to be the judge? I assume you DBA? Or are you bringing in someone?

Just been reading through everybody’s work – all great stuff and stiff competition. Whoever wins this will know they have earned it! (gulp)

Ryan – an “external” judge will come in to make a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice from a shortlist of 5 that I will put forward. I want to bring in someone who is a recognised published writer and am talking with someone at the mo – but until he/she agrees I can’t say just yet

That’s more than enough! Just curious.

thanks
