  • Old Growth Mountain Ash by Ern Mainka

Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans), Yarra Ranges, Victoria, Australia. / _ This old giant (approx 350-400 year old) was known as The Furmston Tree (also The Von Mueller Tree). It was featured in early Victorian Railways and other tourism photographs of the 1930’s to 50’s era but taken from a different angle. / _ By 2000 it was decaying from the inside with a large open hollow on one side. It finally succumbed to strong winds and collapsed. It officially had a circumference of 19.5 meters at breast height but being on a very steep slope made it difficult to be really accurate. / _ Nikon F3. Infra-red B/W film, digital sepia toning. • Moondance by Geoff Coleman

I was driving along a road in a seaside town at Jervis Bay, just 2.5 hours south of Sydney Australia when I glimpsed this moon through some trees with a pathway of silver light across the water. A lucky moment, in that all the elements were there but tricky in putting them together because it was so dark I couldn’t see anything through the viewfinder and had to keep taking pics, viewing them on the LCD display and then moving the tripod to get the composition I wanted. / It looks to me like the trees on either side of the moon are partners about to dance onto the floor of some enchanted ballroom.

  • On top of the world by Angel Perry

Another early morning foggy drive to work.I love the little biride on top of the tree.
