This image demonstrates the age of children lost during the Goldrush, the two children buried here are aged 18 months and 12 months, and it is reflected in the layout of the stones around the grave. The Pennyweight Flat Cemetery is a cementery dedicated to children that died during the Goldrush in central Victoria in the 1852 – 1857. The first time I accidently discovered this cemetery, I was repelled and a little spooked by a children’s cemetery, but today I decided to walk in and look around and was delighted to find a wonderful resting place. The only part of this cemetery that was heart breaking was the obvious size of the miniture graves, demonstrating a lives that were barely lived. / The photo was taken on my Canon sx200 is and the colour was enhanced in Photoshop.

The third installment in the Tower Series. This shot has bought with it more practice in Photoshop, and fun with pushing proportional boundaries. I find that my dreams distort images, as do my nightmares – this image is more closely aligned to a nightmare scape, in which the outlook does not make sense. It is blue in nature, as the mood seems dark and disturbed, with death on the doorstep. / Images taken at various locations around Bendigo. / Shot with Canon sx200si.
Must be footy finals fever – looking at the ‘body language’ of these daffodils just brings to mind an Aussie Rules footballer taking a spectacular mark, or specky, on the backs of his opponents. Kyneton Botanical Gardens on the last day of the Daffodil Festival – September 13th. Unedited. Lumix TZ11. Featured in Photography Fun, Calder Highway Photography Group, Friends of Bangor and North Down Camera Club, Northern Ireland, and Country Victoria.
this is a suspected hybrid of the nationally threatened Diuris protena (Northern Golden Moth Orchid) and an unknown Leopard Orchid. It turned up during the annual survey of the Diuris protena population at Wedderburn, hiding amongst a population at a location recently cleared of rabbits. Problem is, the Leopard orchids were nowhere to be seen. Either the hybridisation happened a long time ago and the Leopards have since disappeared, or they are still hiding somewhere avoiding detection. It is therefore unknown which species of Leopard is guilty. Another further-flung possibility is that this a new and as yet undescribed species.

This shot was taken at the corner of View Street, looking towards some of WC Varland’s greatest designs, including the Old Post Office (rear), the Shamrock Hotel (far right) and in foreground the Bendigo War Memorial. Winter has helped by minimising the foliage in this shot. / The colours were enhanced in Picassa, the shot was taken with my Canon Powershot sx200si.

As the magpie sits and debates his options. From his post he has quite a view, this will influence his decision. The tree is safe and will eventually draw him home. Refer to my profile for the programs and camera I use.

Something you should know about Fields Of Gold Lyrics Title: Sting & Police – Fields Of Gold lyrics Artist: Sting & Police Lyrics You’ll remember me when the west wind moves / Upon the fields of barley / You’ll forget the sun in his jealous sky / As we walk in fields of gold / So she took her love for to gaze awhile / Upon the fields of barley / In his arms she fell as her hair came down / Among the fields of gold Will you stay with me, will you be my love / Among the fields of barley? / We’ll forget the sun in his jealous sky / As we lie in fields of gold / See the west wind move like a lover so / Upon the fields of barley / Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth / Among the fields of gold I never made promises lightly / And there have been some that I’ve broken / But I swear in the days still left / We’ll walk in fields of gold / We’ll walk in fields of gold Many years have passed since those summer days / Among the fields of barley / See the children run as the sun goes down / Among the fields of gold / You’ll remember me when the west wind moves / Upon the fields of barley / You can tell the sun in his jealous sky / When we walked in fields of gold / When we walked in fields of gold / When we walked in fields of gold
The lake is quite ancient. It may have been formed by drifting sand blocking the passage of Tyrrell Creek. Over time it became a giant salt basin due to the flow of subterranean saline water and the run-off from Tyrrell Lake. It is dry most of the year although, at times, it may be covered by shallow water. Evaporation leaves a salt crust which is commercially extracted.
