Indian Paint Brushes by Debbie Montgomery
I saw these growing on the side of an I45 feeder road as I was heading toward Galveston. They were such an unusual color I had to turn around and go back to photograph them. Indian Paint Brushes are usualy one shade of orange-red with white accents. These are multi-colored in shades of orange without red. I’ve never seen any like them before.

Out of the chutes by courier
A saddle bronc rider burst through the chute at the Knox Prairie Ranch Rodeo in Munday, Texas. This one made the count unlike many others that night. A fun event to watch but very scary at the same time. Most contestants are young – too many bumps for older folks! Taken on a Canon D30, hue and saturation slightly adjusted on photoshop, filtered with unsharp mask and 3d Render Transform.

Kickin' Dust by Wildwings
Digital Art: Bronco training a fresh horse. / Note: All my digital art work is executed entirely with my mouse and Photoshop Elements’ brushes. It takes hours of concentration, patience and self control. Especially when the mouse wants to go right and you need it to go left! *When this happens , I reluctantly leave my office and go for a stroll in my garden. / That usually takes care of the problem and then, I get back to work :) *

Spooky Gulch - Escalante National Monument, Utah, USA by Brian W. Schaller
A very narrow slot canyon appropriately named Spooky Gulch twists and turns for several hundred meters through a dry desert landscape. Its walls tower many meters overhead while the opening in front of you seems to get smaller and smaller. Those hikers that are both brave and thin enough to fit through will find that they are able to make it to the opposite side. At its narrowest point, the little canyon is only about 30 centimeters wide! [Escalante National Monument] [Spooky Gulch info and photos] / Copyright © 2004 Brian W. Schaller – All rights reserved.
