Three’s a crowd!.... / Another take on ‘Moonflight’ (Gimp enhancement.)
One day there was a fence… the next, just two posts and those disappeared before the week was out as well. This is the ranch where we live. I was told they moved the cows. (Featured in SKY SCAPES)

Lets stay a while…. / ....and anchor in this bay…... / It seems so still, so pristine…... / ....so, come on, pull down the sail… / .................................... and lets take it easy…... This yacht cruised into West Inlet through the day, and Garth and I rolled on down there to check out the sunset….... and there she was….. / .....and right behind her, Nature turned on the sunset to die for, all yellows and oranges, no deep reds this time…..and to top it off, the water had becalmed, the birds were lazily lounging about on the mirror, the tiny waves sloughing gently onto the shore…. / An amazing bit of luck to see this….... i guess you have to get out there, and make your own!! West Inlet / Stanley / Tasmania (Australias island state) Canon 5D Mk II / 200mm lens / 1/30th sec at F8 / polariser / 2 stops over / mouth agape!! / and running around the shore, over rocks covered with seaweed is Not recommended!!

My wife and I recently spent a week in the Barrington tops region north of Newcastle. Not only is it beautiful country but it is close to home. Our first night there a storm was passing just to the south of us through Dungog. This was a lightning strike close to us and the flash illuminated the rain falling from the clouds. As the storm was far away I had the apeture open to f4 which is fine for distant lightning but terrible for a close flash. I have had to adjust in Camera Raw to get the details of the lightning stike as good as I can. not other adjustments have been done. Image taken with a Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm lens at f4 and 30sec exposure.
The beauty and solitude of Corpus Christi, TX on a blustery January afternoon.
In the foreground, a freight train rolls by in the rural outskirts of Chicago. The sunny late afternoon sky contrasts with the winter snow on the ground and the frigid temperatures.

Aloha e Malama pono Sharon Mau SOLD / 01 June 2009 / 1x Poster Pa’ako Beach Makena Maui Hawai’i No post processing, it is really this beautiful! / Early morning light on Pa’ako Beach, Maui Hawai’i. / The island of Lana’i is visible on the distant horizon and Oneloa (Big Beach), Makena is in the distance on the right. The division between Big Beach and Little Beach was caused by a lava flow and earthquake in approximately 1790. The hill dividing the beaches is called Pu’u Ola’i or Earthquake Hill. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / Currently with 2738 Views, _Mahalo :))) “At the northernmost corner of the Polynesian triangle, the Hawaiian Islands stand as a sentry for a collection of atolls, volcanic remnants, coral blocks and large islands that punctuate the region stretching to Aotearoa (New Zealand) in the south and Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in the east. Hawai’i is the newest landmass in Polynesia and the most isolated settled area on the globe, rife with unique ecosystems. Maui, sitting in the middle of the main Hawaiian island chain, is young geologically. Haleakala, still volcanically active in the 18th century and now considered dormant, rises 10,023 feet. The older and more eroded West Maui Mountains are 1.3 million years old. The tallest point at Pu’u Kukui – 5,788 feet – is one of the rainiest spots on earth. Ka’anapali is on the leeward side of these mountains of West Maui on the slopes facing the islands of Lana’i, visible on the horizon in this image and the beautiful island of Moloka’i.” Information Source Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / Shooting Date 30 September 2009 / This is a composite of two images taken on the same location at the same time stitched one over the other / Currently with 2826 Views

Welcome to our new moderators – Richard, Trevor, Gabbie and Emsky :))
Kia ora, this group is for skyscapes art that is predominantly sky, as opposed to land or sea. Majestic cloud-filled skys or stormy nights. Sunrises and sunsets. Art where the focus is the sky, not a building, smokestack, moon or anything else unless there’s a fabulous sky in front of or behind it. And if you have two very similar images, it goes without saying that they would look better entered separately than together.
