Remember thinking that’s a cool legendary beast/mytholigical being and wanting to feature them in a story? Well, we’re collecting an entire alphabet of creatures, a Bubble Bestiary. Link your stories to this post and 26 letters from now we can look at producing a downloadable PDF, all rights remaining with contributors.

UPDATE: We will happily take multiple entries for each letter, so feel free to post your bestiary story. The final document will contain a single selected story for each letter, as judged by the group moderators. A guest judge, RandomAlex, will make a decision on the overall winner (group moderators are not eligible for this prize).

I have a were-jaguar quartet in progress… very big players in south american folklore.
I’d like to see a meeting of Dragons from eastern and western cultures or a Unicorn convocation: fascinating how many descriptions there are for them.

Bonus points for anyone who includes multiple creatures the initial letters of which forms another ... acrostic style!

I had to look that up… I remembered it as the name of a guardian force in Final Fantasy 8 but I wasn’t sure if it was a “real” mythological creature. Snake-bird Aztec sky god apparently.

Xanthus- the immortal horse of achilles, briefly granted the power of speech
Xanthus- another horse, this time one of the human-flesh-eating ones whose stables hercules had to clean as part of some quest or other.
