AKA Bubble Mythologica Remember thinking that’s a cool legendary beast/mytholigical being and wanting to feature them in a story? Well, we’re collecting an entire alphabet of creatures, a Bubble Bestiary. Link your stories to this post and 26 letters from now we can look at producing a downloadable PDF, all rights remaining with contributors. UPDATE: We will happily take multiple entries for each letter, so feel free to post your bestiary story. The final document will contain a single selected story for each letter, as judged by the group moderators. A guest judge, RandomAlex, will make a decision on the overall winner (group moderators are not eligible for this prize). SUBMISSIONS CLOSED: Last day of Aquarius, 2008 All the entries |

Golem is a good one. I have a were-jaguar quartet in progress… very big players in south american folklore. |

Personally, Succubus has a lot of appeal to me. Apart from the dying part… |
Ha! Write from her point of view. Inccubus. |
‘I’ll raise you Valkyrie’ – okay… I’ll match that Melusine Or Manipogo and the mermaid :) |
Haha – the succubus from her POV sounds delightful actually! |

Thanks for starting us off Anne! And Fran, certainly all possibilities for the Bestiary. I’d like to see a jabberwocky story too! It would need a heap of portmanteaus, just like Lewis Carroll’s poem – a challenge for the brave! |

I’m in! kappa Is there a date they have to be due by? |
Q! Quetzalcoatl I had to look that up… I remembered it as the name of a guardian force in Final Fantasy 8 but I wasn’t sure if it was a “real” mythological creature. Snake-bird Aztec sky god apparently. |
yeah Quetzalcoatl is like the sun god or something |
Some more great suggestions there! And the due date is February 19, 2008. |

okay, I cheated and looked up some X creatures on the web cos i figure if we have to wait for ppl to think of them off the top of their heads, it will take aaaaages. Xanthus- the immortal horse of achilles, briefly granted the power of speech Also if you go here and select a location you can then search the available articles by letter. there were a ton of X beasts so i couldnt be bothered posting them all here. Try Africa, Aztec, China and Greece. There are probably others, but by greece I got bored… |

Well done Amanda, now you’ll have to do a story including all of the referenced words LOL! Good idea RedEarth, ideas for the tough letters! Where do you think you’ll start? |

Yah, RedEarth! |
