This is a Chess themed writing competition. Interpret the pieces AND/OR the game of Chess any way, any genre you want. The pieces are the King, Queen, Rook/castle, Knight, Bishop and Pawn. First Prize : US$30 Bubble voucher Closes : Midnight (your time), 14th September 2008 NB: How to Link – You need to put the text you want to be linked in quotation marks, ie “my stunning and obviously winning entry” followed by :link ie :http://www.redbubble.com/people/empress/writing/727958-plan-b ... if you do get stuck just post the http bit and we’ll fix it for you. This comp isn’t going through the group Challenge Tab, as it is being rebuilt at the moment, and currently doesn’t support writing. |

so why is the queen the most powerful piece? I carry around two images of chess players: the sweater wearing, probably bearded 20th century type, and the post-crusade castle-dwelling type (including the daughter of the lord but that’s because I read romance) ... neither really explains why the queen has such high status. |
