My visit, along with my sister Sharon & Cheryl, to the War Memorial was not just one of sightseeing, but to trace some family history. / Our father never spoke much about our uncle. Only to say that he was involved in WW2, captured by the Japanese, & on a ship that was sunk by their own as they didn’t know there was prisoners on board. / Dad has passed on, & are we doing some research of our own. We have done some research on Google. / Our uncle was with the 2/22nd Infantry Battalion. It was called Lark Force. He was in Rabaul on the 23rd January 1942 when the Japanese attacked. He was taken prisoner. He was on the ship Montevideo Maru when it was sunk on the 1st July by the American ship the USS Sturgeon. The Montevideo Maru was not flying the flag to indicate that it had POW’s on board. / If anyone has any other info on that particular episode of the war. That would be great. / I think Sharon is putting this in some of her groups tomorrow too.

“Every man must do two things alone; he must do his own believing and his own dying.” / ~ Martin Luther The fallen leaf floats alone in the lake, across the reflection of its former home. Amidst all the pretty fall colors, it looked so desolate, drifting away from all it’s “siblings” lying at the foot of the tree to face their demise together. (photo shot at Kickapoo State Park, Danville, Illinois) FEATURED IN THE IMAGE WRITING GROUP, 11/12/09. TOP TEN FINISH IN THE MAKE A SELECTIVE COLOURING STATEMENT CHALLENGE, 1/3/10.

Self-explanatory. Obviously. / ——- This was my starter image: Yes, I drew and coloured the heart. Self-portrait, edited and highly textured in Photoshop, using multitudiness layers and a filter or two (honestly, after a while, it all becomes a guassian blur, LOL).

It’s difficult to explain a mother’s fascination with everything about her child. Even his well worn Keds….. It’s funny to think, that 24 years ago I was putting little jingle bells thru laces on similar, albeit smaller shoes, on these same feet…. seems like only yesterday…... / Cannon Power ShotA650IS
