This was rendered in a large enough size for prints, but to my eye it came out looking “rough” ... though it smoothed out beautifully when I resized it smaller. So until I can get it looking better I am only offering this as a card. Rendered in Apophysis 2.07 Lauren Edit Thanks to Buddy Sears & his new Pixel Terminator I’m now able to put this up as a print. Something a little minimal….. I love a minimalist abstract or fractal, there’s just something about them. And you just don’t see all that many minimalistic fractals. To me, fractals don’t always have to be a wild explosion of design and color, there’s a place for the subtle too. I love both ends of the spectrum,,, the fractals that shout & the fractals that whisper. As for this one, I tried to incorporate the negative space as part of the image itself, & not have it just hang there as a lifeless piece of the background. White can be even more unforgiving than black so I gave it a wash of color to soften it & bring it into the image even more. All critiques are more than welcome ! I’d definitely like to know how I can improve on this. You may have to look full screen to see the lines a little bit better, or maybe not. Something a little minimal, done for a Stillness Speaks Challenge on another site. I had envisioned something along the lines of a garden path, a few pebbles or stones …. a little sand …....... something people could just look a for a while & then quietly find their own stillness speaking to them. ;-) Apophysis.

At first this looked like a person shouting his/her rage & triumph out to the heavens, but then I decided I was wrong, the colors were all wrong. Then, I thought it looked like a singer on stage, with that last trembling note hanging on the air…....so….. I chose opera. The term “bel canto” generally refers to an Italian vocal style of the the late 18th century, where use of a light tone in the higher registers and agile and flexible delivery were common in the operas of that period.
