Sleep is but a distant memory so I decided to look through some of the thousands of photos in my computer. I stumbled across the photo shoot that I did with my girls in the October school holidays. I had set up a studio in my loungeroom at home and the girls dressed up and posed for the camera. We had a ball as Axel would keep running into the shot or taking off with the tripod. These are a couple of the images from that day. There are tears streaming down my face as I remember this day with laughter and smiles…

This is an original piece I created in colored pencil, it took many, many layers and countless hours to create. ...then right before it was finished my dog, Zoe (Jack Russell Terrier) snatched it from my art table and ate part of the corner!!! I was devastated at first, thinking of all of the hours and work I put into the sketch and rendering. Then a revelation hit me, I simply cut out the area (under the dragons mouth) and mounted my drawing to another piece of illustration paper, redrew that area and voila! It actually gave the piece an interesting look, depth and life, which ironically is the meaning of the name Zoe. / My (since passed) dog had a LOT of life in her and now that life passed on the my dragon. My daughter Zoe painted this when she had just turned 5, she is now 6. She is an amazing artist. Zoe and I will often have painting days together. She once told me “Why can’t I paint as well as you?” I was shocked and turned to her and said “Zoe, everyone’s style is different and your artwork is amazing – I wish I could paint like you!” People think I’ve taught Zoe how to paint but what people don’t understand is she has taught me more!! So I hope others enjoy her work as much as I do. I wanted to make a profile on here for her but because she is under 16 I wasn’t able to so I thought I would add a few pieces to mine which has really made her day – she is eagerly awaiting feedback :)

My First Wedding as official photographer. Thank you to Adrian and Zoe Terrace for having faith in me to take their photos on such as a special day. I will post more in the coming days. This photo is just something I believe is fantastic. The first emotion that comes to mind is that of love and trust everytime I look at this shot.

I was looking through my gallery just now and stopped at “Barbie Doll”. The model in this gorgeous photo is my 9 year old daughter Zoe, she is a tomboy a heart, she rides bmx, was an elite gymnast (along with her older sister Meg who by the by was accepted into the Australian Institute of Sport but had to quit due to injuries) and she is a cancer survivor. This photo has to be for me the best reminder of how far my baby has come. At 20 months old Zoe was diagnosed with a Stage III Neuroblastoma on her right kidney the size of a rockmelon (its essentially a tumour that grows on the end of a nerve), doctors gave her only a 25% of surviving. She is one of the most stubborn little girls the oncology ward encountered – she was also the smiliest. With no hair those gorgeous big brown eyes stood out a mile and the grin was infectious – the nurses would come into our room every morning for their dose of Zoe. Even at her sickest she would have a smile and a really bad joke for anyone that came in the room. What she went through during this time noone should ever have to go through. But she did it with stoicism and strength. Obviously she beat the odds (I was later told that doctors didn’t exect her to pull through at all) and is still cheeky and sarcastic and she still has that strength of character. Young Lady Zoe, watched with glee. Her Cousin whom had made peace with the dragons so long ago now. the protection of gardens and colors which surround her, was the sheild of protection. Yes there were still ill willed folk in the land of colorado that coveted a dragon just because. Zoe amazed how her cousin Lucus who found a way, seemed a day. yet not that he had made peace with these beautiful creatures. scary looking they could be, and invisible they could cloak. magic she saw. Sir Lucus was teaching his sister, strong of will as Zoe had been at that age, young Lady Jos’ wanted her own dragon. Lucus her ever viligent brother to was giving a quiet lesson. “sister dear, you must ride with me so i can show you time, time with meaning, time with calm”. Lady Jos’ was stubborn still yet wished to ride so she gave way once more. for brothers always protect, and deflect. Zoe always captivated by her cousins keen sense, and knowledge he imparted. so wise for one as he.

My daughter Zoe always asked to use my camera – most people shudder when they see me hand over my very expensive camera to my 6 year old. What they don’t understand is that she has been taking photo’s since she was 3 and has never dropped the camera and always treated it with respect and not as a toy (she always carefully puts the strap around her neck before she starts!) She takes some great photographs and I wanted to share this one with you. I love the way the light blurs in circles out of her eyes. Please comment as it would really make Zoe’s day :)
