  • Pine Creek, Zion National Park, Utah. My conscious goal with this image was to simplify the composition.

  • A fantastic display of color in Zion, Utah. Prior to this shot wind gusts on this butte were easily over 60mph. Toughing it out I feel was well worth it. Please enjoy! /

  • Sun was out – and these cubs were soaking up the sun and very sleepy. They didn’t even wake for the camera, or for the cuddle I gave them. Magic!

  • Morning light display on the canyon walls of Zion National Park, Utah. / Enjoy!

  • One of the attractions at Zion National Park is its red roads that wind through the park and the eastern slickrock area. I have always been facsinated just by the roads and how the hoodoo formations and rock formations fit in so nicely. You can travel from Checkerboard Mesa all the way up northeast and come to several views like this one and just stand their in awe of nature. This one phototgraph was taken about 5 miles past Checkerboard Mesa with a 20mm lens and polarizing filter to bring out the reds in the roads and rocks.

  • Zion National Park-My first trip to Zion was a photo workshop with the San Diego Natural History Museum, led by photographer Robert Turner. The sunset light reflected from the cliff walls was amazing. Canon Elan 7 camera and Provia 100 film.

  • A backlit waterfall in the very scenic Emerald Pools area of Zion National Park in Utah, This image was captured while hiking in April of 2008 and a park ranger informed me that the falls were flowing as heavily as he had seen in many years. This is surely an area in Zion not be missed, especially in early spring. All content & images © Stephen Vecchiotti. You may not use any images in any way without written consent from artist. • This image was taken during an awesome hike in Zion National Park (South Western Corner of UTAH ) near the Observation Point, an 8 miles retour hike with lots of vertical to climb. The view is absolutely amazing and if you have the chance of being alone at this point, you can hear the wind coming down the corridor and up the hills. You’ll probably have a few chipmucks looking for food around your feet and a few lizards enjoying the heat of the sun on the orange rocks. / This was our second trip to Zion and we fully took it in with nice long hikes and beautiful views. It’s simply unreal and makes you ground yourself quite nicely. / As the weeks go by and I have a chance to edit and play around with all my images, I’ll post various images of our trip that had us hiking over 160 miles in many beautiful American National and State parks. HDR image (photomatix), composed on 3 bracketed images / Canon Xt with my Sigma 17-35mm 2.8 / Handheld as well Better viewed full screen / Cheers / seb

  • The light was so beautiful in the narrows today. Wading up river was well worth it once I hit this spot in the hike. I looked back to see the light playing a wonderful trick against the red wall, illuminating the entire passage beyond where I was standing. The narrows actually supports an abundance of plant life. The sandstone actually ‘absorbs’ water over the years and the many walls are dripping with water. If you look throughout the picture you can find many plants poking their way out of random spots along the rock. Zion National Park – The Narrows
