  • This is the main cascade of Scalebar Force near Settle in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, England. The falls are 2 miles from the market town of Settle and are hid away in a narrow gorge just at the side of the road. Its a very popular spot for photographers as someone had kindly left some arranged leaves on the foreground boulder! Nikon D80/Nikkor 18-105mm VR lens, ISO100, 2 sec exposure at f-22. Conistone, which it is said means ‘farmstead of cows’ or ‘Kings Manor’ is a charming and quiet village hidden away from the main road to the east of Wharfedale. It was mentioned in the Domesday book as Cunestune. Conistone Dib is a narrow gorge, which was created by post-glacial floodwater, and leads upwards from the village green, through Gurling Trough, to an area of spectacular limestone scenery.

  • Garden
    by richie fox

    US$5.49–US$125.40

i am very happy i stumbled upon this today. (11 feb 2009) Here is some panels of the fence that i took close up photographs of. As you can see each panel of fence has a completly different pattern, colour and texture. I have a fair few photographs taken and I have been able to produce some fantastic pieces of art. I think it is a fantastic find!!! / This abstract image is a little part of someones garden fence! Every strip of fence had been weather treated, but all the strips were completly different. i took lots of pictures as there were so many fantastic different shots. The wood fence looks as if it had been coated with weather stain, then it looks like a coat of tar had been applied, then it looks like the treated areas of the fence were blistered by the sun, leaving behind a some wonderful abstract art! i think that this picture looks like the sea – a field – hills – horizon with trees on it. / im uploading this picture, and i may upload another. i have cropped this picture slightly. i have adjusted the brightness/ contrast/ hue and saturation a little bit also, just to bring out the brilliance of what i photographed.

Whitby Abbey taken at 4:30 am (yawn). The first light of the day from the rising sun gave this amazing glow to the stones of this ancient building bringing it to life. Whitby is a wonderful seaside town along the North Yorkshire coast of England. This is a fascinating place to visit. HP PhotoSmart C945 bridge camera, f/5.6, shutter 1/60, / exposure bias -.67, use of tripod to steady the shot.

  • "All Aboard"
    by Bradley Shawn Rabon

    US$4.16–US$95.00

A number of years ago, we took a family holiday up in North Yorkshire, England. On a day out, we decided to take a trip on the Steam Train that runs from Grosmont to Pickering, across the moors. I love the sights, sounds, and smells of steam trains. They represent a more romantic time. I took this shot in Grosmont as the train was loading for the next trip. It was like stepping back into another era. The trip along the railway was so fascinating and exciting. On the way back, I was invited to ride on the footplate up at the engine. Watching the fireman shoveling coal and getting to blow the whistle were the highlight of the day! This is an HDR image combining four images. I also applied the Orton effect to soften the image. HP PhotoSmart C945 bridge camera / f/2.8 / 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000 / Exposure bias -0.67 / ISO 100 / HDR image generated in Photomatix Pro for Mac OS X

  • Skipton in Yorkshire UK
    by Irene Burdell

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Canon EOS 400d / / / Leeds Liverpool Canal / Britain’s longest inland waterway (127 miles) was opened in 1816. The Leeds Liverpool Canal took 46 years to build, and finally came in at five times the original budget. The first part to open was the lock-free section from Skipton to Bingley, in 1773. The canal was busy all through the nineteenth century and carried stone, coal and other goods. The canal passes right through the centre of Skipton, and at the canal basin there is a junction with the Springs Branch (Lord Thanet’s) Canal. Only half a mile long but a beautiful stretch of canal that winds around the back of Skipton Castle, acting as a moat, and until 1946 was used to transport limestone from a quarry higher up the hill. The old chute where the stone was loaded into the barges can still be seen. / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /
