Old derelict buildings fascinate me … they are a physical window into our past. I found myself staring at this old shop trying to piece it all together … imagining horse and cart clattering past … the noise of trade … the bustle of people … what were they selling … Coke? Bloody hell – it’s been around for ever!

I came across this building on my run about in the snow storm. I thought of doing it in B&W or even Sepia.. But alas I liked the colors that showed.. These small sheds and barns were built to last. Some made of ash tree’s. It looks as if its being kept in repair and still an older look.. With the falling snow and overcast sky it made my choice.. hope you agree..

This is a wonderful old lady that comes to the restaurant almost everyday. She usually gets there about an hour before we open. We let her because she requires much of my time, which is hard to do when we are full. She loves to talk but always comes in alone, so I sit and talk to her. Mostly I listen. She always starts the conversation with “Yesterday…” / . / I love the wisdom that seems to radiate from someone who has lived a long time. / . /

Forgiveness not forgotten

Back in 1992, I wrote this quote in my journal, “Forgiveness is a courageous attempt to add steps to the ladder of the future. To forgive oneself is the doorway to heaven and the challenge of lives to come.” I cannot remember who the author was, but this quote is a part of my daily routine - / I forgive myself for what I’ve done yesterday, today and tomorrow! / In my counseling efforts the issue of forgiveness is always misconstrued, that in order to forgive you must embrace the person forgiven – this is NOT to say you need live with them, tolerate future abuse, or forget the lessons learned from this relationship. I guess that this particular belief is what sparked the inspiration for this writing at 2am this morning. / I am hopeful that someone struggling with Self-Esteem earns their presence and ability to hold themself in enough regard and strength NOT to compromise themself for Survival, Affection or Success! / Peace~ Imagine my surprise today 5/6/09, when my sweet sister DevineDay Dreams created created this beautiful artwork to accompany this poem…
