[portrait taken in Natural Light] : 16/11/2008 [AS IS] I was walking from one village to the next, in Remote Nigeria. one of the team noticed this young girl following us for some time. I stopped and spoke to her through an interpretor. We learned that she was 13 years old and caring for three younger Sisters. As she told us here story, I Felt compelled to return to her village. There we met her three younger sisters in the most extreme poverty. Both Parents were dead and no other living relatives. We spoke to the village Chief and the elders who pleaded with us to help the family. We did, as God lead us to and blessed her with clothing, and the following day we sent two of our field workers to meet with her and now they have a small regular income from our mission funds. UPDATE 5-8-2009. Mary is now at School. We pay her school fees adn her three younger sisters are well and happy. We need help with Susan, aged 9. She wants to go to school also. We need help with school fees, uniform adn text books. Can you help? will you Help? Welcome to 2009. To kick off the new year, l want to reflect a bit on how constructive comments can encourage members to create new work and grow artistically. The majority of the member comments on my artwork pages are less than 100 characters in length (including spaces). That’s not a lot of information, but they do provide just the right amount of inspiration. The best comments motivate members to create more work or to see their existing work in a new way. Comments are also incredibly valuable if they come from peers that work in similar mediums. In my case, printmaking is a niche medium, so comments from other printmakers regarding technique are always welcomed. And at a visceral level, comments simply feel good; they bond us to the larger RedBubble community. Comments can also help guide art buyers. For example, your comment can link to an artwork or written work on RedBubble that’s similar in topic or aesthetic. When linking, it’s best to link text that best describes the image or subject matter that the member will see post-click. Here’s a real-world example: “What a wonderful photograph of the Perth waterscape. I especially like the way you highlighted the horizon and ramp/dock – great technique using the prolonged exposure. Check out this photograph of Perth by EOS20.” The “medium-plus-subject” link structure is helpful to readers and search engines alike. You can use this tactic on your personal websites and blogs in order to send visitors to your RedBubble pages (or other websites). RedBubble typically sees a dip in website chatter during the holidays, but the silence ends as members return from holiday, post new work, and reconnect with those they follow. If you would like to share a favorite comment or a positive feeling that you had as a result of a comment on your work(s), please post it below! Enjoy the New Year. We look forward to viewing and commenting on your new work in the coming weeks. Regards, / Jason

LARGE VIEW RECOMMENDED 0.5 sec exposure, f13, 10mm Sigma, Canon EOS 450D. ND8 Grad filter. Without blowing my own trumpet and owing a lot to the light and location, this is by far, my most favourite image I have created. A little work in Photoshop, but not much, I hope you like it as much as I do. The Dorset and East Devon Coast World Heritage Site is England’s first natural World Heritage Site – it is known as The Jurassic Coast. It covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset, with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth’s history. World Heritage status was achieved because of the site’s unique insight into the Earth Sciences as it clearly depicts a geological ‘walk through time’ spanning the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

Best Viewed Large Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion .. about an hour’s drive from Athens, Greece. “The temple of Poseidon was constructed in approx. 440 B.C. It is perched above the sea at a height of almost 60 m. The design of the temple is a typical hexastyle i.e. it had a front portico with 6 columns. / As with all Greek temples, the Poseidon building was rectangular, with a colonnade on all four sides. The total number of original columns was 42: 18 columns still stand today. The columns are of the Doric Order. They were made of locally-quarried white marble. They were 6.10 m (20 ft) high, with a diameter of 1 m (3.1 ft) at the base and 79cm (31 inches) at the top. / At the centre of the temple colonnade would have been the hall of worship (naos), a windowless rectangular room. It would have contained, at one end facing the entrance, the cult image, a colossal, ceiling – height (6m) bronze statue of Poseidon. Probably gold-leafed, it may have resembled a contemporary representation of the god, appropriately found in a shipwreck, shown in the figure above. Poseidon was usually portrayed carrying a trident, the weapon he supposedly used to stir up storms.” ... the above abridged from Wikipedia. I took this image with my little Olympus C5000 zoom in August of 2005. A bit of Photoshop work has taken place … cloning out tourists, adding a new sky and a texture layer among others. Featured in Children the Power of Raw Emotion – August 09 – Thank you!! Featured in All About Hearts – July 09 – A very big thank you to the hosts! Featured in Canon DSLR – June 09 – thank you so much!! Featured in The Woman Photographer – June 09 – thank you very much to the hosts! This portrait of Mila (2) was taken in the back garden. Her older sister, Perrin, ran around behind her holding a black cloth to act as a ‘backdrop’ for me. In true 2 year old style, she decided today was the day that she would NOT smile, and as for looking at the camera… you can forget it. Keeping still was also not an option. So this is the end result of a frustrating shoot, but maybe the more interesting for it. Canon 400D, natural light, pp in photoshop CS2.

/ Get the TShirt Tears from Heaven / / The Peacock Empress is a drawing created a couple of days ago, while at the surgery with my daughter, i had a vision of it which impressed strongly in my mind, and i was able to draw it once I got home. The idea was the Empress was rising up over the waters. There’s lots of symbolism in this, but it’s purely for my own benefit and the viewer may decide how the symbolism relates to them…the colour has been done in Photoshop. She has almost taken on the look of an oriental style “Luna Park” entrance at twilight, might be a nice design for those who celebrate “Chinese New Year” and/or collectors of asian inspired/related art
