So there are times when you think that the lions roar is simply a sound that is made when they are protecting, fighting or communicating amongst their pack… think again. Whilst sitting quietly watching from the safety of our truck, there were cubs playing off in the distance and the closer to us was a lioness and lion that were definitely capturing our attention. The mane of the lion was spectacular, and more importantly when the lioness walked off into the background where the cubs were, the lion was not happy. He sang his discontent with a roar that had us humans at the point of worry. It rang through us and at that moment, I went from feeling all ‘ahhh how lovely’, to ‘how soon till we move on?’. It was one of those jolting moments.
