I am really surprised that this image actually worked due to the extreme wind gusts that blew up just on sunset. I had to shield the tripod with my body to take this to make sure my camera wasn’t blown over. I like this image for its contrast of the impending storm above the jetty and the purity of the water below, kind of reminds me of life. I’d sooner stay below, but sometimes you have to stick your head up to see what’s coming! The white water was achieved by stacking my Cokins to give me a 5 stop ND Grad, only photoshopping here is a slight bump in contrast and saturation with curves. The track winds it’s way down on a grassy slope to the edge of Corio Bay with the You Yangs in the background. / This image featured on the front cover of an art calandar published by BEST SHOTS as well as a coffee table book on Geelong and Bellarine Peninsula. / It also was part of a support promotion run by the press getting readers to write in and try to determine where it was taken from as the location is not readily visable to travellers. / Taken on Fuji S2Pro

Acrylic On Canvas A piece that was inspired about watching Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love, set in 60s Hong Kong. A story about forbidden love and in the story, the female and male leads shared some special moments in room 2046 – writing martial novels :D The chinese title of this movie is Hua Yang Nian Hua. The Chinese title, Huayang Nianhua (translated in the subtitles as “Full Bloom” but more accurately meaning “those wonderful varied years”), is more suggestive of period nostalgia and the Shanghai association, pointing to an iridescent, kaleidoscopic age of bygone elegance and diversity. / You can view and purchase my other “Hua Yang Nian Hua” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /

A Phoenix emerges from the fiery breath of a great Silver Dragon, as they fly around a sun mandala. Pastel pencils on black bristol board, 32” x 40”. In Chinese literature, the Dragon represents the male, or Yang, while the phoenix represents the female, or Yin. They complement one another, creating balance. When together, they are the symbol of marital happiness and harmony. Featured in Dragon’s Fire group.

Was very lucky to get this as just on sunset a group of fishermen decided to come back in and I had people wandering all over the jetty. Finally they left, but the wind was blowing something fierce and the seaspray was horrendous, the only way to shoot the sunset was to wedge myself as close to the jetty as possible and shield the camera from the wind. Was the most challenging circumstances for photography I’ve faced, but I’m happy with this one. ND Grads stacked again to give a more dramatic effect. THANKS SO MUCH TO RED BUBBLE / FOR FEATURING THIS ON THE HOME PAGE / 3rd April 2009 “For every low there is an equal but opposite high” ♥…a wing from one of my beautiful white cockatoos on take-off…mirrored and contrasted… / (and to be a bit more specific… this was taken thru my window at my desk here while working one day…the birds were just waddling around pecking at my lawn… and one took off up to sit in a tree… so with just one wing from a picture… I mirrored it to see if it would look like a ‘whole’ bird…LOL / . / ...then i was fiddling with v.basic tools of negative image and inversion etc to get a whole black/white effect… / . / ...THEN i started seeing images in the bird akin to an inkblot test and when they became a tad too disturbing for my own liking…. i left the image and moved on!! ...sheesh!
