A pilgrimage path around the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain range near Lijiang, China. At an astonishing altitude of about 4,000 metres, the mountains in the background still looks almighty.

From the buzzing, humid city of Kathmandu to the pristine scenery of the Himalayan Mountains, these are photographs of my trek up to the source of the Dudh Koshi River and deep into the Sagarmatha National Park to climb to where the air has less than 50% oxygen with amazing views of the Khumbu glacial valley and the Himalayas in beautiful, clear Autumn weather.

After trekking in Nepal in 2000 I returned with a desire to paint as much and as fast as I could. This is a representation of the high grazing in the Khumbu Valley, Nepal. It was incredibly dry, bright and cold and very barren. Acrylic on canvas / 2001 best viewed LARGE

SHELL GINGER IS IN FULL SWING ….
House finches are entertaining to watch. In the family this spring is a very vocal young fledgling who is constantly cheeping. In the treetops, at the feeder, on the ground, in flight this youngster never stops. Yak! Yak! Yak! Daddy Finch is at a loss for words; he stands stoically while the youngster prattles on. There’s no peace for the Finches! Nanny 911, where are you?
I think this is a water buffalo – please correct me if I am wrong.
The superb western face of Ama Dablam looms high over Pangboche. Lhotse and The Wall seem so distant, with Mount Everest peaking over the top… just.
