Corio Bay, Eastern Beach – Geelong. / I had me some time to stop for a few quick shots on the way to work this morning. Lucky to have such a clean surface on the water, the wind really chopped it up by this arvo. / I was particularly drawn by the criss-crossing of the wires and how they reflected on the water. For the record, it’s a HDR comp.

This image was created at the Apollo Bay Docks early in 2008, went here for a holiday just as I was getting into Photography. I went down to the docks just as a storm was rolling in and it made for some interesting weather conditions! This pic was created from one raw file. I changed the exposures in Lightroom and then merged 3 images using Photomatix, increased the blue and green saturation levels in Lightroom and added a bit of contrast. This is the result! We enjoyed the mellow dusk settle on this perfect anchorage with pints of beer in hand, outside the renowned Forge inn, (officially Britains remotest mainland pub). The tiny scottish hamlet of Inverie is inaccessible by road, only by sea or a demanding walk of many miles. We had crossed to the unspoilt area of the knoydart peninsula by ferry from Mallaig for some amazing walking (see the series of 3 pics on heartbeat ridge . The sights on arrival were just captivating with wildflowers galore, deer roaming gardens, peacocks roosting (see bird in a tree and I also got the precious shot of morning gems. The St Germans viaduct in Cornwall, UK, which spans the Lynher River that flows 106 feet below. / The viaduct was built in the 1850’s, and the Lynher River is a tributary of the Tamar River. Yes I know, another sunset shot of the Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. I just can’t help myself, I love this time of day and place, and I have to say, this afternoons sunset was the best yet. I honestly had to desaturate this shot. It was amazing orange, everything around you was glowing orange, the sky lit up!! My wife even said at the time, she had never seen anything like it. Canon 50D, 10mm, 20% desaturate, as the raw was just too orange… Available Large, and best viewed Large.. The full size print of this can be 1.5 metres x 1 metre.

A first go with a touch of drybrush effect Taken aboard a wonderful yacht off the French normandy coast near Cherbourg, the deck newly scrubbed! I must go back to the sea again … and get a better shot while I’m there….LOL …wishing hard here…! Thanks heaps for looking and have just heard the watercolour group are using this image as a painting challenge!! what a huge and amazing honour! After long waiting for the right sunset to photograph the “Mariah”, a customers boat, yesterday afternoon was perfect! A huge fire on North Shore gave it more character with the thick smoke. As I was shooting this scene, some kids playing on the beach behind me screamed out “Mummy mummy, the sky is on fire”, and went running back for her protection.
