Many would call this monitor a goanna. His image was captured at Manning Point on the east coast of Australia. Manning Point is at the mouth of the Manning River, north of Sydney and east of Taree. Today was the Torremendo, (Spain) Annual Fiesta, celebrating their Saints day, where 2 Oxen pull a cart carrrying a statue of Jesus around the town and horse riders and pedestrians proceed and follow. Last year I rode, but decided I would snap some photos this time. This elderly man had a wonderful character visage, so I plucked up the courage to snap a shot! He was just a follower. The day was blazing hot, so he must have been melting in his coat and hat. This is the first time I have managed to capture an older person to apply this effect to and I am quite pleased with the result! I have removed the background as it was full of people and was messy. / 2 hours worth of editing in PSP, including manually adding the Dragan effect! / Nikon D40 18-55mm / Started photography May 2008

This was taken when my friend and father were visiting Elvaston Castle, just outside Derby. We were looking round the gardens when this ladybird (ladybug) landed on John’s hand. I quickly said hold still and I took a picture of it before it flew away, still to this day its one of my most favourite photographs.
