A lady out watering the crops on the way back from Ha Long Bay to Hanoi. Was taken out the side of the bus window on a horribly bumpy road so is not as sharp as i would like but I’ll take what I can get. Unfortunately travelling in a group restricts the amount of stops a long the way :( Taken with a Canon 400D at 75mm, 1/2000 sec @ f 4, ISO 400 Cropped in Lightroom for a tighter non distracting composition

Because in the english language the phrase “Labor Creates all Wealth” doesn’t make obvious sense because it’s not clear what “Wealth” refers to. It could mean “labor creates all of rich people’s money” or it could mean “Labor creates the wealth of society”, but what is the wealth of society? It’s an indeterminate term. Saying that Labor builds society is more straightforward because that’s what we’re talking about, how workers have literally been the ones to build society and the ones that keep it going through their jobs. From a sharpie pen drawing I did and colored it in Photoshop.

La Corsa (The Race) / Venice 2008 I captured this shot of workers emerging out of the fog while on my beautiful italian adventure. It had laid dormant on a disc until i started putting a dvd together. When I saw it on the big screen, I was mesmerized. What is an ordinary, everyday occurence to the men in the boats racing to work, seems quite heroic and magical to me. Best viewed in the larger format. I hope you enjoy this image as much as I do.

I painted this in layers working first with an underpainting, then adding the field, trees, a little color to the sky, and finally the workers. The medium is watercolor, I use Arches cold pressed 100% cotton paper, and the dimensions of the original painting are 12 3/8 inches x 16 inches.
