Great Rhododendron….rhododendron maximum…. found around the mountain streams of the Appalachian Mountains.This is also known as Rosebay, Rose Bay, American Rhododendron or Big Rhododendron ….Image taken along River Road..Great Smoky Mountain NP….This is usually in bloom from mid to ending June…The other Rhode in the park “Catawba” is usually a week or two earlier…it bloomes above 3500 ft…........they are times you can get both in a transition area above 3500 ft, but it’s a hit or miss thing….Some of these don’t bloom every year but they are enough in an area of them that thier beauty always shows

The label and sheet music are real and stuck on with varnish as are the cotton thread strings. This was painted in 1970 in oils. (Guitar should have 6 strings) / I used to enjoy Harp Lager!! / Picasso and Braque also stuck paper, etc. onto their canvases.

I drew this, over two sessions, while doing a part time art course at Newcastle College back in ‘92. The old Co-Op building is now the very impressive Discovery Museum, where you can see the Turbinia , the first steam turbine driven vessel. / (I had to prove to myself I could sit down and draw straight onto a piece of paper a large complex subject.) / Pencil on A1 size paper.

HMQS Gayundah, a former flagship of the Queensland Navy, lies at rest at Picnic Point near Woody Point at the southern tip of the Redcliffe Peninsula, Queensland, Australia. Woody Point has historical significance as a place on the coast where Mathew Flinders landed in 1799. Photographed using a long exposure (3 min) while light painting the wreck and surrounding area with two hand-held flashlights. 110 views
