Scanned woodblock print which I did in 1992. / Traditional art.
Woodblock Print / April 2008 / Printed on Japanese Awa paper / Size of original print: 20cms x 30 cms This is a reduction print, which was taken further than this stage, but I wasn’t as happy with the next stage as I am with this one. Only one print remains of this stage. I am planning to attempt something completely different with what is left of the plate after it was carved out further.
Photograph of the original print. / January 2009 / Size of original print is 22.5cm x 30cm This is a reduction woodblock print which involved 6 passes (6 separate colour passes) and Chine Collé. A combination of oil-based and water-based inks were used. First colour printed directly on Zerkall Etch 250g, with subsequent colours over Chine Collé (Japanese Tissue Paper used for the Chine Collé). Because this was a reduction process, the original block is completely destroyed and no further prints can be run from that block. One Artist’s proof and one final original remain from this process.

woodblock print
This is a large woodcut block that I have just completed. I will be pulling a print from this before I ink it up. I got a book for Christmas with the artist “Cressinda Campbell” and she paints her blocks first and pulls a print with colours before inking up with printing ink. She also sells her blocks and prints together. So I thought I would give this a go. For now this is the block and I will post the print when I get to it. I really enjoyed cutting this block. It took me 2 months to do and my hand is really hurting as a result. So its time out for me with the cutting of wood. THE MODELS NAME IS “CONNIE PAGE” Let me know what you think. BillyLee This is also a collaboration with Andrew James McNulty who took the photograph of this lady and I have posed in with the geraniums…I will post the link to this picture soon. This is one of my favourite woodblock cuts which was featured just recently, but because I was on the road for 5 days I missed the opportunity to have it submitted into the “Best of Black” Challenge. Which inspired me to create a Tee, to give this piece more exposure and credit. Hope you like it too. Thank you for browsing.
