Star of the Sea by Karin Taylor is a card taken from an original painting on canvas textured paper using mixed media, ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. From the Beach Series Here we have a spunky mermaid with a guitar slung over her back, lazing about on the deck of her timber boat…....taking some time off on this occasion, from luring sailors and ships to her watery lair…... there is something of the Madonna about her… hence the name ‘Star of the Sea’

Well Mel and I went out chasing a storm last night, thanks to her hubby who noticed the lightning over the Brindabella’s. We found a decent spot, set everything up and waited, this was the first capture I got. You would have thought Mel and I were insane, this is the first time either of us have managed to capture lightning and we were jumping around as if we’d won the lotto. Not long after this we had to dive into the back of my car and close the tailgate and wait for the hail to pass!!
This is the second shot I got, poor Mel was in the middle of a battery change when I got this one! I almost lost this shot, trying to delete the dud photos I accidentally deleted this one, I almost cried. Thankfully I found some recovery software on line and managed to get it back :)

We’ll see if anyone recognizes this man. The funny thing is, I could have done something that looked much more like him, methinks, but, this was done by photo-manipulation vis a vis a lot of layering, converting to grayscale, and etc. In fact, for part of this, I layered it onto the background for my ‘Ohne the Clown’. Anyway, it was hard work, but, fairly fast, and rather gratifying in that I didn’t make too many wrong turns, and that’s part of why it was fast; and, I like it! I hope he does, too! Alphabet soup: D for dude: does that count? He looks like a dude to me!
