I took time off today to go on a photoshoot at my old haunts. As a child I played At Witton Castle, especially in the dungeons and on the battlements. Now when I look at them I wonder if my mother cared if I fell off or not. I would not dare go on them now, but children do not know fear, and up onto them and off I went. / This is the Lake in the grounds of the castle. I played in there too, It was a wonderful nostalgic day.
This is the castle itself., taken from the rear side. A huge structure, beautifully maintained and in full working order, It belonged, when I was a child,to the Chaytor family, and Sir William Chaytor was a friend of the family, hence I played there. It is a most wonderful building.
This is part of the front of the Castle, what is shown here is about a quarter of the entire structure. the whole lot is immense
This is a photo i took in witton castle, one of three photos that went funny on me that night, wish i knew what happend with these photos, but all my mates said there hairs stood up on the back of there necks when i showed them the pictures, any ideas would be much appreciated.
A bear dancing… what more coule you want!
Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 17-70 lens at 17mm, F11, shutter speed 1/160 second ISO100, tweaked in Photoshop Another shot from our Easter holiday in the Yorkshire Dales, this was taken on a horeshoe walk from Middleham castle, down the river cover through East Witton and then back to Middlehm castle. East Witton is a village in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. Located south of Leyburn, it is the resting place of Richard Whiteley; he and his partner Kathryn Apanowicz lived in the village. There is also a West Witton in the Yorkshire Dales. The village lies at the edge of the Jervaulx Abbey park, and with Coverdale to the immediate west. The village acquired a charter and a market in 1307 which died out in the 18th century. The Earl of Ailesbury rebuilt most of East Witton in the early years of the 19th century, the houses and gardens in the same places as they were in 1627 according to an old estate map. In 1809, on the new site at the east of the village, a church was built by the road; this replaced the old church of St Martin whose site is now covered in trees.

The Church of St John the Evangelist, East Witton / The church was built between 1809 and 1813 at the instigation and expense of the Earl of Aylesbury, squire of Jervaulx. The interior was remodelled in 1870s during the Victorian era. At one time there was a double decker pulpit and box pews. It is thought the Victorian alterations included changes to the internal walls around the chancel. the tiles and organ are Victorian. Pentax K10D 18-55mm lens
