Only paint.
All through spring, I put off the flower shots. Now all I’ve got is this one, tired and withering. And yet I still find it beautiful. Even as the petals curl and fall, it delivers its most precious gift of all – the promise of the next generation. When spring returns it will be born again a hundred times over. And maybe, just maybe, I won’t wait so long to capture them.

I had never noticed a flower in this state of decline before. The petals had browned and curled over on the ends and it actually looked more visually striking than a healthy bloom on the same bush. This floral montage was created in Paint Shop Pro by enlarging and cropping the original photo and making it the base layer. Then I extracted the flower from it’s background and placed it on the layer above, at 100 % scale. I adjusted the Layer Modes to soften the contrast of the enlarged Layer, so that the small original stood out from the background image.
My origami calendar Time passes by so quickly; life is so busy. If I were in the centre of time, could I forever enjoy the moment that is now? Moments are like flowers; enoyable while it still exists, then wears away… Just when I finsh one school project; it’s time to work on another. I cherish moments where I can slowly enjoy my favourite activities… This clock of mine is old. It doesn’t run on batteries, I have to wind it to keep it ticking. Taken with an Olympus FE-340 on July 10, 2009. For a better idea of scale of the centre flowers: / This work has been featurede in: / Numbers One to a Trillion
